George is the brother of Reginald, listed above, yet he fought with the Canadian Infantry.

In around 1909 George emigrated to the US and was working in a hotel at the outbreak of war. He travelled to Canada at his own expense, and joined the Canadian Army. He died on 27th September 1918 and is buried in Triangle Cemetery, France.

George’s Canadian papers show that he enlisted at Windsor, Ontario on 25th June, 1917. He had been living at 460 East 34th Street, Chicago IL, and was a Fireman. George had a fair complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair. He was 5’9” and had a chest measurement of 38”. He was unmarried, and despite having lived in Chicago for several years, still listed his mother and step father in England as his next of kin.

In 1901, the family is listed as living at 90 Annerley Street, Denaby and consisted of their father Charles, who was 70 and a 'General Labourer' on the streets, their mother Mary Ann (who was 23 years her husband's junior), George, and his younger siblings Alfred, Harold and young sister Mollie, who was 4 years old. I therefore imagine that 'Sapper CH Beaumont' is actually Harold , and that M Killalee is young Mollie's future husband.

In 1911, George has left home, Charles Snr has died and Mary has remarried another Charles, this one called Smith and just one year her senior. Alfred and (Charles) Harold - CH - are both recorded as working at Denaby Main Colliery and Mary (as she is recorded on this census) is a worker at home.
