The Conisbrough and Denaby 100 Project

Charles Blades

Charles Blades, WW1 Remembrance, Conisbrough 100 Project, Conisbrough and Denaby 100 Project, Remembrance

At the time of his death in November 1917, Charles Blades was a Private in the Prince of Wales' Own (West Yorkshire Regiment). His medal card shows him receiving the Victory and British medals, and he enlisted in May 17, and went abroad in September.

Records on Charles are quite limited, however newspaper reports from the time show that he was living at 60, Clifton Street, Denaby, and that he was a married man of two children.

Charles is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial at Louverval, France (below). We visited in April 2015 and laid his tribute card (above).
